Sonoran Dendretic Rhyolite - Named stone of the year in 2011, at the worlds largest annual gem and mineral show, The Tucson Gem and Mineral Show.  Discovered by John F. Heusler, who I was fortunate to purchase this rough from.  I first saw the stone on the cover of Jewelry Artist Magazine in 2012 and had to find some to cut.  Sonoran Dendretic Rhyolite does not take a high polish, but has a beautiful satin finish. Colors vary from Gold browns to blue grays and whites.  The patterns remind me of little landscapes or abstract drawing.  Each piece varies and Sonoran Dendretic Rhyolite rough always holds a surprise when cut. 

Bertrandite or Tiffany stone is unlikely to be found in a jewelry store. You might find it at a gem and mineral show or online jewelry artist or stone cutter.
Spor Mountain is where almost all of the Tiffany stone is mined.  Most has been crushed to produce beryllium.  Thankfully employees who saw the beauty of the stone carried out small amounts.
Even though Tiffany stone is very rare it is affordable. Colors ranging from purples, blues, pinks and whites.
